The Star Skaters 3-on-3 tourney on Saturday meant some tiring Gunners on Gunners action! The Knights (Shirley, Theresa, Michelle, and Jenna) prevailed, going undefeated over 4 games, and handily beating the Gunners (Claudia, Rochelle, Jen C., and Keri) in the championship. A fun time was had by all, and money raised for a great cause.
Best of all, we made a new friend and teammate - everyone say hi to Kate! Jen wooed her with Bud Light in between tournament games - we knew then we had a good prospect.
It was an exhausted group of us who re-convened at Memorial City for the late game against the Blue Ice (a.k.a. Shooters II, a.k.a. Evil Shooters, a.k.a. who the heck is really rostered on that team, anyway?). Things were looking pretty grim with 7 of us in the locker room, but thankfully Danny agreed to sub in with very little notice and, in the nick of time, Erica (F-Yeah!) arrived.
As far as the game? We might have won if we had had another 3 periods to play. Still, we managed to score 3 goals in two periods to make a 6-0 blowout look a bit more respectable as a 6-3 final score. Regardless of the score, everyone had a fun time, and I think we all certainly got our exercise in for the weekend. I know I slept well!

Compliments
Due to a short bench on Saturday night, we borrowed a couple of skaters from the Ice Dragons. Oh, and we borrowed their goalie, Zack. So thanks, Markus and guywearingtheredwingsjerseywhosenameIdon'tknow.
We won the game 7-4, finally getting it in gear to pull away from a 4-4 tie with the Enforcers. Note to selves - put the puck on net! Good things happen!
But the best part? After the game, the Ice Dragons players thanked us for letting them skate with us. And they paid us the nicest compliment: "You guys are so much fun to play with! You pass the puck so much!".
And that, ladies, is why this team is so great.
I do feel the need to add that another compliment was paid to Jen M. But that was during post-game activities. By a guy wearing a Guy Fieri wig and making balloon animals at the bar who thought she was cute. Way to go, Jen!
