It's a new season - and a new blog!

Welcome, everyone, to the Houson Gunners' blog! This is where we can talk about our game results, upcoming tournament plans, and any other Houston women's hockey related items. Or women's hockey stuff in general.

So, new season, a new face - let's all welcome Melanie, or "Billie" as we seem to like to call her (she doesn't seem to mind). Melanie had a great first game, especially considering she was one of the "iron three" playing back on defense. I think she and Jen might have been competing to see who was going to puke first. Thankfully for all of us, neither of them won that competition!

Game roundup: We played the Shooters. We're not quite sure of their lineup yet (does it include Big Daddy? - the mystery continues), but they are always a challenge with their fast forwards. We struck first. Can someone please tell me who scored? I think it was Madsen, or Ro, or Michelle? Maybe? By the third period we were down 3-1, and then the fun began. A lot of hustle got us our second goal (again, who scored?), and with a possible tie in sight, we stepped up our game. As the clock ticked down, Jen found Danny on the point for a sweet breakout pass. Danny outskated all the Shooters' D to put it in the net and tie the game.

So, great game everyone - it was a nice way to start the season.
